The covenant was renewed on Mount Sinai because:
A. There was a new generation that did not remember the first.
After the Israelites had been delivered from Egypt, they initially received the covenant at Mount Sinai under the leadership of Moses. However, due to their disobedience and lack of faith during their wandering in the wilderness, that generation was denied entry into the Promised Land. Instead, it was their descendants, a new generation, who eventually entered the land under the leadership of Joshua. The renewal of the covenant on Mount Sinai was thus necessary because this new generation had not experienced the original covenant firsthand and needed to reaffirm their commitment to God and His commandments.
