As part of the heritage of their calling, Peter enjoined Christians to do all the following except

the young clothing themselves with humility

humbling themselves under the mighty hand of God

firmly resisting the devil, conscious of the fact that suffering is part of Christian life

recognizing that God opposes the proud and gives grace to the meek
