oxidation because propane gained an electron from Chlorine hence it is the oxidising agent. propane also reduced HCl to Cl2. HCl lost an electronic hence it is the reducing agent.

Propane is the oxidising agent because it was reduced to chloropropane it lost an electron. Chlorine is the reducing agent because it was oxidised to HCl hence it gained an electron from 0 to –1.
