Alkenes, which are hydrocarbons with at least one carbon-carbon double bond, are represented by the general molecular formula C\(_n\)H\(_{2n}\), where 'n' is the number of carbon atoms (n ≥ 2). The first member of the alkene family is ethene, C\(_2\)H\(_4\).
