At 25\(^0\)C, the saturated solution of a salt in water was found to contain 0.24g of the salt in 100cm\(^3\). What is the solubility of the salt in gdm\(^{-1}\)?
If 0.24g of the salt was dissolved in 100 cm\(^3\)
then Xg of the salt will be dissolved in 1000 cm\(^3\) (1 dm\(^3\)
⇒ 0.24 = 100 cm\(^3\)
X = 1000 cm\(^3\)
Solubility of salt, X (gdm\(^{-3}\)) = \(\frac{{0.24} \times{1000}}{100}\)
= 2.40 gdm\(^{-3}\)
