Which of the following reactions does not take place in the smelting of iron in a blast furnace?
\(CaCO_{3(s)} → CaO_{(s)} + (CO_{2(g)}\)
\(C_{(s)} + O_{2(g)} → CO_{2(g)}\)
3\(Fe{(s)} + 2O_{2(g)} → FeO_{4(s)}\)
\(SiO_{2(s)} + CaO_{(s)} → CaSiO_{3(s)}\)
\(CO_{2(g)} + C_{(s)} → 2CO_{(g)}\)

From option A. lime stone CaCo3 decomposes at high temperature in the blast furnace to give CaO + CO2 , (B) the coke C reacts with oxygen to give CO2 (carbon (iv) oxide in the blast furnace. Option D SiO2 (silicon (iv) oxide + reacts with CaO to give CaSio3 (product in option d isn't correct d Si is been left out). Option E CO2 + C to give 2CO, option A, B,D & E are reactions that takes place in the blast furnace in the production of iron. So option C is the correct answer.

c is correct bcos in dat process,(c) instead of purifying it, it increases the impurity and also d equation is not balanced.... not so sure

the reactions are jumbled together.pls it wld be better if they are properly typed for better understanding.

The question's options are not properly and correctly shown and arranged making them not easy to read and understand.

Quick question, since iron is being smelted, wouldn't the equation with iron be the answer?

This is the oxidation of iron to form iron oxide.
In a blast furnace, the opposite occurs: iron oxides are reduced to iron.
This reaction does not take place.

The correct answer to the question "Which of the following reactions does not take place in the smelting of iron in a blast furnace?" is D. SiO2(s) + CaO(s) CaCO3(s)
3
. This reaction does not align with the typical reactions that occur during the smelting process of iron in a blast furnace. The reactions that actually take place during the smelting of iron in a blast furnace involve processes such as combustion, reduction, slag formation, and sublimation
