Oxidation is the addition of electronegative compounds. Electronegative compounds are non metals; So, a non metal (chlorine) was added to zinc, making it oxidized

oxidisation is the state of an element to loose electrons, what happen here is that Zn loose it electrons to ZnCl2 + H2 it give sout two electron(loose) which is oxidizing while reduction is the process of element to gain electrons
