The reaction \(2H_2 S + SO_2 \to 3S + 2H_2 O\) is

a

not a redox reaction because there is no oxidant in the reaction

b

not a redox reaction because there is no reductant in the reaction

c

a redox reaction in which H\(_2\)S is the oxidant and SO\(_2\) is the reductant

d

SO2 is the oxidant or oxidizing agent because itself got reduced in the course of the reaction to become 3S. While H2S is the reductant or reducing agent because itself got oxidized to become2H2O

The best way to go about questions like this is to calculate the oxidation number knowing that the oxidant and redundant are from the reactant side, then, correspond the oxidation number of the same elements with the product side. this way you will know if the oxidation number increases or decrease.hence, it's will be easier to know the oxidant/redundant
