At standard temperature and pressure (s.t.p), one mole of any gas contains the same number of molecules, known as Avogadro's number ($6.022 \times 10^{23}$). However, the number of atoms in each molecule differs.

- Butane (C4H10) has 14 atoms per molecule.
- Chlorine (Cl2) has 2 atoms per molecule.
- Ozone (O3) has 3 atoms per molecule.
- Argon (Ar) is a noble gas and exists as single atoms.

So, the total number of atoms for each option is:

A. 1 mole of butane: $1 \times 14 = 14$ moles of atoms
B. 4 moles of chlorine: $4 \times 2 = 8$ moles of atoms
C. 3 moles of ozone: $3 \times 3 = 9$ moles of atoms
D. 7 moles of argon: $7 \times 1 = 7$ moles of atoms

Therefore, **7 moles of argon (Option D)** contains the least number of atoms at s.t.p.

all of una no sabi

The question is supposed to be solved using N=Ln hence the answer is (A) (i.e 6.023*10^23 x 1 mole of butane)=6.023*10^23 atoms...... please review this so that other people would not be wrongly directed .... thank you

i swear my school is correct, listen for those of you using avogadro's law to solve this, youre all wrong, because it was stated that EQUAL VOLUME of all gases under the same temp and pressure contain the same number of molecules, so it was not stated that they have equal volumes though they are the in the same temp and pressure

a mole contains a set no of atoms the only thing different will be the density caused by the molar mass so 1 mole of A and 1 mole of B have same no of atoms 6.02 × 10^23 same volume but different masses I think the answer should be A please MySchool look into it again

butane has the formula C_4H_10 therefore having 14 atoms the correct answer should be 4moles of Cl_2 which contains 8 atoms

Butane has the formula c4h10 which amounts to 14 atoms the rather correct answer should be 4moles of Cl2 which has 8 atoms😁
