A. For molecular formula. .......... .................C. H. O. %: 40. 6.7. 53.3 ÷ by: M.N. 12. 1. 16. = 3.33. 6.7. 3.33. Now, divide by smallest no. (3.33) and then you have: I. 1. 2. 1. Therefore, the molecular formula= CH2O. For the empirical formula, ( CH2O)n =180 ( 12+ 2 +16)n = 180. 30n = 180. n = 180/30 =6. Therefore, the empirical formula = (CH2O)6 = C6H12O6
