The correct answer is D because when magnessium is burnt in air it produces both magnesium oxide MgO and magnessiun nitride Mg3N2.

Myschool is doing a good job but need to be more accurate because students rely on this platform..

Magnesium burns in air forming Mg0 and Mg3N2..

The answer is c. Because burning magnesium ribbon in the air nitrogen is present there argon to is present there carbon dioxide which we all know as CO2 is also present in the reaction only oxygen is absence from the reaction example burning magnesium ribbon in air where there is an asthmatic patient there the patient will not be able to breath very well due to loss of oxygen during the reaction.

Greetings, The Myschool Team.
The correct answer is D(i and ii only) and not C(i only). The reason is because burning magnesium ribbon apart from reacting with oxygen also reacts with nitrogen to give magnesium nitride. Thus, it removes both oxygen and nitrogen from the air, and this is more adequately captioned by D(i and ii only). Please the necessary corrections should be made. Thank you.

Burning magnesium ribbon in air removes oxygen
magnesium reacts with oxygen when it burns:2Mg+O2=2MgO so it uses up oxygen from the air forming magnesium oxides

My school the above answer is incorrect magnesium burns in air to produce magnesium oxide
From the above statement it is very clear that it removes oxygen
The intense heat produced by the burning magnesium however decomposes carbon (iv)oxide to release oxygen for the further oxidation(burning) of magnesium
Hence, it is clear that magnesium removes both oxygen and carbon dioxide when burnt in air
option A is the correct answer

burning magnesium in air gives a mixture magnesium oxide and magnesium nitride therefore the answer should be D
