Metallic character increases from top to bottom because size of atom increases down the group and nuclear pull to valence or outer most electron becomes weak. As we know that Potassium is at lower position on periodic table, so metallic character will increase in case of Potassium. More is that metallic character also depends on ability to lose electron which is more in Potassium than in Aluminium. Therefore metallic
character will be high of Potassium than
Aluminium. Because Potassium have more tendancy to lose electrons than in Aluminium.
