the equation is wrong
it is supposed to be MnO4- +Y + 5Fe2+
=Mn2+ +4H2O +5Fe3+
Therefore,you will have to balance both equation in the LHS= -1+10=9
RHS=2+15=17
LHS=RHS
9+Y=17
therefore Y =8+

The question is wrong.
the 'Iron part' of the question should be 5Fe²+ --------> 5Fe³+ and Not 5Fe²+ --------> 5Fe²+
