When hard water boiled, it produces an insoluble deposit called calcium trioxocarbonate iv which form scales in boiler and fur in kettle.
Therefore the answer is D.

please the chosen option is incorrect
they asked furring of kettles is due to the PRESENCE of what?
it's the ca(hco3)2 PRESENT that decomposes to caco3
the fur in the kettle is caco3
but the process of fur formation is due to the presence of ca(hco3)2 PRESENT in the water

I don't think this answer is correct. It should be CaHCO3

The answer is wrong. The correct answer is D.
Calcium hydrogentrionocarbonate (IV) causes temporary hardness in water.
Calcium trioxocarbonate (IV) causes furring in kettle.

According to the Question, the answer should be CaHCO3 because, it's the cause of temporary hardness.

please my school review, calcium hydrogen trioxocarbonate iv causes the furring of kettle not limestone, limestone is discharge as deposit when the temporary hard water is boiled

but the question said 'In the presenceof what compound in water' and the presence of Calcium hydrogentrioxocarbonate(IV) in water which cause temporary hardness is what leads to furring in kettles after the water has been boiled. So shouldnt the answer be B?
