i think my school made a mistake,it suppose to be lower the freezing point of water(ice) because salt does not raise the melting point of ice. Instead, it lowers the freezing point of water, which is known as "freezing point depression". This means that salt helps to:

- Lower the temperature at which water will freeze
- Melt existing ice

However, salt does not raise the melting point of ice. The melting point of ice is essentially the temperature at which ice changes state from solid to liquid, and salt does not affect this temperature. The melting point of ice remains at 0°C (32°F) at standard pressure, regardless of the presence of salt.

What salt does is reduce the freezing point of the water in the ice, allowing it to melt even if the temperature is below 0°C (32°F). This is why salt is often used to melt ice on roads and sidewalks during winter.
