amphoreric oxides are oxides which acts both as an acid or a base under different conditions.i.e they have both acidic and basic properties.eg they can turn red litmus paper blue and blue litmus paper red.it is exhibited by some transition metals, and other metals like tin, gold, silver, aluminium, lead etc.when they react with oxygen.therefore,C is d ansa.

Zinc oxide is represented with the formula (zno).it has the ability to bahave as an acid and as well as a base therefore it is an amphoreric oxide.another example of amphoteric oxide is aluminium oxide.

Amphoteric oxides are simply oxides of some metals that possess both the properties of acidic and basic oxides under different conditions instead of the usual properties of basic oxides.

Here is an explanation:
Definition: An amphoteric oxide is an oxide
that can act as either an acid or base in a
reaction.
Examples: Al O is an amphoteric oxide.
When reacted with HCl, it acts as a base to
form the salt AlCl . When reacted with
NaOH, it acts as an acid to form NaAlO .
Typically, oxides of medium
electronegativity are amphoteric.

Zinc has the ability to gives out it's electron and also has the ability to gain electron, depending on the reaction. According to T Bronsted, an acid is any substance that gives out an electron and a base is a substance that accept an electron! Owing to this definition, zinc is amphoteric!

yah its 2ru cos it exist b/t d acidic nd basic ppt,it also a transition metal.

Zinc oxide is an inorganic compound with the formula ZnO. ZnO is a white powder that is insoluble in water, and it is widely used as an additive in numerous materials and products including rubbers, plastics, ceramics, glass, cement, lubricants, paints, ointments, adhesives, sealants, pigments, foods, batteries.

Zinc oxide is ZnO and it is amphoteric because it has both acidic and basic properties (Amphoteric oxides are oxides that has both acidic and basic properties). Oxides of transition metals result to Amphoteric oxides.

Amphoteric oxides are oxides of metals which behave both as basic oxides and acidic oxides (the cab react with both acid anf alkalis to form salts and water only, e.g aluminium, zinc, lead and tin, so Amphoteric oxide is the correct answer
Amphoteric oxides cn reacts as both acidic and basic oxides.such oxides av both acidic nd basic ppties.

Zinc oxide is an amphoteric oxide because it can act as an acid or a base in solution OR it shows basic character by reacting with acids to give normal salts in most cases and shows acidic character by reacting with bases to give complex salts.
