The oxidation state of chlorine in potassium chlorate is?

  • A. +1
  • B. +2
  • C. +3
  • D. +5

Correct Answer: Option D
Explanation

- potassium chlorate --> KClO\(_3\)

valencies of K = +1, O = -2.

Cl + 1 - 6 = 0

Cl = 5
