Its correct......period is different from group.....To know d period an element belong to.....its easier with KLMN configuration..... the element in d question has atomic number 16....so its configuration is 2,8,6.......nd period has to do with number of shells.....so its period is 3

period is d correct option because we determine period by number of shells and we determine group as number of valence electron or number of electrons in d outer most shell

I agree A is d ansa bec d configuration is for Mg....and has dis obital shell which is 2,8,2...dis shows dat d numba of shells is d numba of periods and there are 3 shells there, which are 2,8,2=3
