i think why its pentane is because we all know dat from methane to buthane are gases then from pentane to octane are liquid propably the rest are solid and i think pentane falls into that order

Even the explanation MySchool gave clearly states "Propane which is C3H8 and Butane C4H10". So, why did they choose Pentane(C5H12) as their answer again?

the answer is C3H8 which is propane.
propane, butane and other petroleum gases are found at the top of the distillation tower for crude oil and propane can also be in liquid form when stored under pressure in a tank and when pressure is released it vapourizes and turns into a gas.
