across the period as there is successive addition of elections and protons to the same valence shell, there is increase in nuclear charge and subsequent decrease in atomic radius

The answer is C because atomic radius decreases across a period and increases down a group.
The reason it decreases across a period is because the more electrons are added to the same shell the more protons are added to the nucleus and the more protons are added to the nucleus the higher the nuclear charge and the higher the nuclear charge the higher the force of attraction of the nucleus ,the force of attraction of the nucleus draws the outer electrons/shell closer to the nucleus so the more the force of attraction the closer the outer electrons/shell will be to the nucleus.
Note that atomic radius is the distance between the nucleus and the outermost shell of an atom
