Consider the reaction represented by the equation: 2SO\(_{2(g)}\) + O\(_{2(g)}\) ⇌ 2SO\(_{3(g)}\); ∆H = - 197 kJmol\(^{-1}\). Which of the following conditions will not increase the yield of sulphur (VI) oxide?
Increase in temperature
Decrease in temperature
Increase in pressure
Addition of O2 into the mixture

so myschool.ng can be wrong
hmm i never knew how can the answer be A
you guyzzz just stressed me going back to my understanding chemistry now

In an exothermic reaction, increase in temperature favours the the backward reaction. But your question says not in favour of. So option B is correct.

Generally, an increase in temp. on a system at equilibrium favours and endothermic rxn, while a decrease in temp. of the system favours an exothermic rxn which liberates heat in order to restore equilibrium

The reaction is an exothermic reaction (∆H=-197kjmol).
For continual yeild of sulphur(iv)oxide, heat must be liberated.
So,increase in the temperature of the reaction will lead to reduction in yeild of SO3
