In which of the following reactions is the position of equilibrium not affected by an increase in pressure?

a

3Fe(s) + 4H2O(g) ⇌ Fe3O4(s) + 4H2(g)

b

2NO2(g) ⇌ N2O 4(g)

c

3H2(g) + N2(g) ⇌ 2NH3(g)

d

Pressure only affects gases.
So when pressure changes, only the number of gas molecules (not solids or liquids) matters.

Look at each reaction:

Option A.

3Fe(s) + 4H₂O(g) ⇌ Fe₃O₄(s) + 4H₂(g)

Reactant gases: 4

Product gases: 4

Solids don’t count when considering pressure effects.

Since number of gas molecules is the same on both sides, increasing pressure has NO effect on equilibrium.
