Please @Myschool, Change it. The correct answer is Option C...
In endothermic reaction the system is cooler than the surrounding.
REF : New School chemistry page π 233, under ''Energy level diagrams'' fig 13.1
Thanks... π€ππ

The answer is meant to be D
@myschool.ng please take a look and kindly make corrections

D IS THE CORRECT ANSWER.
The surroundings must have a higher temperature for heat to flow into the system initially, but as heat is absorbed, the surroundings cool down.
The system, after absorbing heat, ends up at a higher temperature than the surroundings.
So, statement IV is still correct in many cases.
The best answer should be D because, in an endothermic reaction, heat transfer leads to the system being warmer than the surroundings over time. If the question is talking about an ongoing process, I can see why they might argue for C, but D is more correct in the long run.

In endothermic reactions the system is colder than the surrounding thus it absorbs heat. So the surrounding is at a higher temperature than the system

my school is very very correct
βH = Hp - Hr = +ve
option A to C conform to this formula
Now, you should also know that the system (material under study) will absorb heat from the surrounding and the surrounding will be at a lower temperature or (thr system at a higher temperature
