Cr2-mean that Cr has two extra electrons. While the o.n of Cr CrO4 2- is x+4(-2)=-2. x-8=-2 x =8-2=6 The o.n of Cr is +6 which means Cr is 6 electrons deficient. Therefore Cr lost 8 electrons.

In the question, Cr^2- has two extra electrons. while in CrO4^2- the oxidation state is calculated as:
Cr + 4(-2) = -2, Cr = -2 + 8 =6. therefore it will have to lose 8 electrons, first to attain O.N. of 0 and then +6

My School errors are to much and some students wont go the extra mile to check if the answers, thus causing them to use such answers in the actual exams. Which will reduce their score. Not knowing it was this apps fault. I love the app dont get me wrong buh it needs corrections like alot. Thank you.

To calculate the number of electrons removed from Cr-2 when it is oxidized to CrO4²⁻, we need to compare the oxidation states of chromium in each compound.

Chromium in Cr-2: Chromium exists in a metallic state with an oxidation state of 0.Chromium in CrO4²⁻: Chromium in the chromate ion (CrO4²⁻) has an oxidation state of +6.

Therefore, 6 electrons are removed from Cr-2 when it is oxidized to CrO4²⁻.

Here's the equation to illustrate the electron transfer:

Cr-2 (0) + 6e- → CrO4²⁻ (+6)

So, the answer is 6 electrons
