Ionisation energy increases across the period and decreases down the group.
Ionization energy is the energy required to remove electrons from gaseous atoms. Think of it like this; going down the group the valence electrons remain the same but the number of shells increases [the outer electrons are shielded from the strong nuclear force]. So the energy required to remove electrons decreases down the group. Acress the period the electrons are added to the same shell, so the are more attracted to the nucleus, so more energy is needed across the period
