Question:
The number of atoms in 1.2g of carbon - 12 isotope is
A. 1.00 x 10 22
B. 6.02 x 1022
C. 1.20 x 10 23
D. 1.00 x 1023
E. 6.02 x 1024

SUGGESTED SOLUTION:
From the knowledge of Periodic Table, we know that one mole of Carbon 12 has a mass of 12g and contains 6.02E23 atoms (note that E23 means 10 raised to power +23)

Remember that this is a multiple choice question.

Also 1.2g is one tenth of 12g, so it follows that it will contain one tenth number of atoms

12g contains 6.02E23
then 1.2g shall contain 6.02E23 = 6.02E22
10

This is option B (6.02X10^22)

remember that avogadros constant=6.02*10^23
12g=6.02*10^23
1.2g= ?
1.2 *6.02*10^23\12
=6.02*10^22
