The displacement of one metal from its aqueous solution by another metal is known as single displacement reaction.

The reactivity of metal is given by the reactivity series. The metal which lies above in the reactivity series is more reactive than the metal which lies low in the reactivity series.

Zinc lies above in the reactivity series than copper. Thus, it will easily displace copper from its aqueous solution. I hope you get?
