When ethanol reacts with excess acidified potassium dichromate (K₂Cr₂O₇), the product is ethanoic acid (acetic acid).
Acidified potassium dichromate is a strong oxidizing agent. It oxidizes ethanol (C₂H₅OH) to ethanoic acid (CH₃COOH).
