Correct the question and then the answer. You guys repeated the 8H+ twice so remove one of it. then the solution is

-4+8-n=2

n=4-2=2 (A)

Answer is E

The given equation represents a reduction half-reaction, where XO-4 is being reduced to X2+. The electrons (ne-) are on the left-hand side of the equation, indicating that they are being gained, i.e., the reduction is occurring.

We can balance the equation by adding electrons to the left-hand side so that the charges are equal on both sides:

XO-4 + 8H+ + 3e- → X2+

The coefficient in front of the electrons is 3, indicating that 3 electrons are gained in this reduction half-reaction.

Therefore, the value of n in the given equation is 3.

So, the correct answer is option B: 3
