2NaNO3 → 2NaNO2 + O2. From the equation above, what is the volume of oxygen produced at s.t.p. when 8.5g of 2NaNO3 is heated until no further gas is evolved? (2NaNO3 = 85, molar volume of gases at s.t.p. = 22.4dm3)

a

1.12dm3

b

2.24dm3

c

4.48dm3

d

11.2dm3

e

22.4dm3

my school is actually correct
and we are also correct in a way

the problem came from the question
2 moles of NaNO2 is 170g not 85
1 mole = 85

think dats where the problem came from

The answer is B not A
And there is no given explanation

It should be B.
2 mol > 1 mol
85 > 1 mol
8.5 > 0.1 mol

Vol = No of moles * 22.4dm³
Vol = 0.1 * 22.4dm³
Vol = 2.24dm³
