A jet plane carrying 3,000 kg of ethane burns off all the gas forming water and carbondioxide. if all the carbondioxide is expelled and all the water formed is condensed and kept on board the plane, then the gain in weight is

a

1,800 kg

Its simple ...

2C2H6+7O2-4Co2+6H20...equation balanced

Now find the molar mass of 2C2H6=60g..4C02=176g....6H20=108g...

The question said all the Co2 was expelled so we wont be making use of it..

60g of 2c2H6 - 108g of 6H20...3000kg of 2c2H6 gives XH20....its better you convert all in grams to KG So u get 5400kG after equatin it ...so u subtract

5400-3000)KG to get the weight gained.

Answer =2400KG...thanks

I feel the answer ismeant to be 5400KG...

The gain in weight is 5,389.44 kg.
This gain is due to the oxygen atoms from the air forming water that remains on board.
