pls note: Elements very high up in the activity series e.g Na, K and aluminum e.t.c are usually extracted by electrolysis because they are very reactive
while iron is extracted by heating in a blast furnace( thermal decomposition)

Copper is obviously extracted by reduction and purified by electrolysis.
