Cyanide (CN) is an anion with the charger -1.
If Z has a cation of +2. Substituting the values, we have: [2+6(-1)]=y; -4=y therefore y equals -4 Option C.

CN has a charge of –1 and Z +2 as we re told. imputing the values we have that. 2+(–1×6)=y
2–6=y
y=–4
