In the extraction of aluminum from purified bauxite by electrolysis, cryolite is used because
it makes bauxite a better conductor of electricity
it makes bauxite melt at a lower temperature
it makes aluminium purer
it prevents aluminium from getting oxidized
it protects the carbon electrodes used in the process

The extraction is done by electrolysis. But first
the aluminium oxide must be made molten so
that electricity can pass through it. Aluminium
oxide has a very high melting point (over
2,000°C), so it would be expensive to melt it.
Instead, it is dissolved in molten cryolite, an
aluminium compound with a lower melting point
than aluminium oxide. The use of cryolite
reduces some of the energy costs involved in
extracting aluminium.

B. It makes bauxite melt at a lower temperature.
This improves the economy of the process.

Are you guys sure of what you are saying? Pls myschool the answer is B not A!! Pls do make research before finalizing on the option being given because it' quite alarming o myschool

It should be A cos it help to ionize bauxite dereby making it av mobile electron
