The reaction of zinc with copper (ll) ions in aqueous solution can be represented as follows: Cu 2+(aq) +Zn (s) → Cu(s) + Zn 2+(aq).Which of the following is the most complete description of this reaction?
a
Cpper (ll) ions are being reduced
b
Zinc is being oxidized.
c

Cu 2+ will gained two electrons to be reduced to Cu metal while Zn metal has to loose 2 electrons to become oxidized to Zn 2+. So option E is super duper correct. Alright??

since zinc is higher than copper in the electrochemical series copper will be reduced and zinc oxidized

in this reaction copper ii ions was reduced to from 2 to 0 and Zn oxidized from 0 to 2
that means oxidation is a gain of electrons and reduction is the loss of electrons
