If we know that paramagnetism have at least one unpaired electron in the orbital and in diamagnetism all tge electrons are paired, then theoretically, H, N, and O are paramagnetic.

So then options C and D are ruled out.
in option A, it's I (H) and II (N)
in option B, its I (H) and III (O)

So, we'd have to make a decision betweens N and O.

By my own interpretation, N has three unpaired electrons thank O which has one paired electron (in the P orbital) and 2 unpaired electrons. So, even though both are paramagnetic, O (having a paired electron) is more diamagnetic and hence less paramagnetic; while N (having zero paired electron in the P orbital) is more paramagnetic and hence less diamagnetic.

If N then is more paramagnetic, then the pair that is most likely to be paramagnetic in relation to the other options given is I (H) and II (N) - Option A

Please why is the no explanation for most of the questions?
Explanation aids better understanding .
Please explain how you came about the answer.
Thanks

The question said in pairs, and Nitrogen and oxygen form oxides day are paramagnetic
Therefore d question is incorrect

Guys paramagnetism is caused by the presence of unpaired electrons, and an external magnetic field, Now zinc has no unpaired electrons.Zinc is diamagnetic. So Zinc obviously cannot be the answer. But liquid Oxygen is paramagnetic

don't b decieved....d answer is A... zinc is diamagnetic... nitrogen is paramagnetic

The best answer would actual be a and not b. Nitrogen has 3 unpaired electrons while oxygen has 2 so nitrogen is more clearly paramagnetic than oxygen
