the correct answer is D because the magnesium ion will gonna lose the two valence electrons to attain a stable octet electronic configuration. bet it can never be A because oxygen is negatively charged

A & D reason being that Oxygen will equally gain 2 electrons just as magnesium will loss 2elctrons and they will both arrive at atomic number of 10 which makes them is electronic.
