Gases that are lighter than air are collected by downward displacement of air, since the gas will move upward, therefore displacing the air downward

the answer is correct
Ammonia gas is collected by downward displacement of air cos its lighter than air

it is ammonia try and find the molar mass of each and u will see ammonia has the lowest

sorry but how will you know which one is heavier or lighter than air cause the explanation my school provided it collected by downward displacement cause it lighter than air am really confused here😔

Ammonia can be collected by the upward displacement of air.
The answer to this particular question is chlorine.

A gas that is denser than air can be collected by delivering it downward. Carbon dioxide, chlorine.
please the answer is chlorine, my school make the necessary correction.

I don't really understand how the answer is gotten. I guess #ammonia is not the correct answer because in the laboratory preparation of ammonia, ammonia is usually collected by the upward displacement of air. Since this one is the downward displacement of air. I don't think that is the right answer. Pls further explanation is required pls

Ammonia and chlorine are readily soluble in water and hence are not collected by downward displacement

Its A oh..
My school pls make the correction for the sake of others..
Ammonia & hydrogen are collected by upward displacement of air while chlorine is collected by downward displacement of air..

After finding the molar mass of all the options, u will find out that chlorine is the lowest but chlorine is not a gas, so the answer is ammonia
