The answer is "C" (smoke) because when lead (II) tetraethyl is added to prevent Knocking, the Pb in it will be released alongside CO2 and CO with other hazardous compounds when combustion occur in the engine.
Smoke contain all of them, including Pb, that is why the environmental pollution is worsened by the release of smoke.

@Emeka... You are wrong, lead is also added in petrol to avoid knocking of engine. Answer is smoke which contain CO

The correct answer is D. Heavy metals.
Automobile exhaust emissions can release harmful pollutants, including heavy metals like lead, cadmium, and other toxic substances, which contribute to environmental pollution.

Environmental pollution is Worsened by the release from automobile exhaust of ______the answer is heavy metal

Smoke (C): While visible smoke is a pollutant, it is primarily composed of particulate matter (soot) and unburnt hydrocarbons. In modern, well-maintained petrol engines, visible smoke is often minimized, whereas heavy metal traces remain a chemical concern.
Heavy Metals (D): Historically, lead (a toxic heavy metal) was a major component of automobile exhaust due to its use in "leaded" gasoline. Even with modern unleaded fuels, vehicles can still release trace amounts of metals like nickel, copper, and zinc through wear and tear of engine parts and brake pads. These substances are highly toxic and persist in the environment.

Heavy metals are pollutants, but smoke is the main pollutant associated with the exhausts of automobiles, besides, heavy metals are not always present...and when they are they are released in very small amounts.

C — Smoke.
Straight facts: car exhausts pump out smoke (plus CO, NOx, etc.), and that’s a major air pollution villain.
Water vapour and steam are harmless here, and heavy metals are more niche (old leaded fuel vibes).
So yeah—Smoke is the correct answer.

My School Please correct This, i beseech thee.
Heavy Metals is 100% Valid, as it is written in the textbook sef
Environmental pollution is WORSENED by the release of HEAVY METALS from exhausts of automobiles
