the answer should be C because group 1 2 3 are metals and the are held together by metalic bond...so answer shld neutral

It's actually metallic bond cause both of dem are metals and dey are asking of d type of bonds each of dem forms

Wait this two elements
Are potassium and magnesium
Both r metals and the is no tendency of them react 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️....then y tf is covalent
The answer my school

The atomic numbers of two elements X and Y are 12
and 9 respectively. The bond in the compound formed
between the atoms of these two elements is.
A. ionic B. convalent
C. neutral D. co-ordinate

Elt x atomic nber 12 2.8.2 and Elt y atomic nber 19 2.8.8.2 and how can grp 1 elts form ionic bonding with grp 2 elt l like ansA is false

metal are said to be made up of positive ions embedded in a sea of delocalised or mobile electrons.
These mobile electrons exert an attractive force on the positive ions which hold the atoms together in a crystal lattice. The force of attraction which hold metal atoms together in crystal lattice are called metallic bonds

My skul pls ans is needed ionic bond is btwn metals and nonmetal and covalent is btwn two non metals so i'm wondering how d bond is covalent we are confused and we need an ans urgently

To me, i think its covalent bond because considering the valency of both atoms the compound formed will have the formula XY2. Hence, the atom X which has two valence electrons would combine with two atoms of Y. I'm not saying this is a given.

Here is an explanation:
An ionic bond is an electrical attraction between two oppositely charged ions or groups of atoms (polyatomic ions).
Potassium will form a +1 ion and magnesium will form a +2 ion.
These are not oppositely charged.
