A is the answer. During the electrolysis of aqueous solution of sodium chloride. At the cathode, we have H+

and Na+. But H+ will b preferentially discharged and liberated at the cathode. At the anode, we have OH- and

Cl-. But Cl will be preferentially discharged since OH- and Cl- are close to each other. Cl- is liberated at the

anode. This leaves out Na+ and OH- in the electrolyte making the electrolyte alkaline.
