if it is just electrolysis and doesn't react with air , it would have been electrolysis of the salt solution, but because its also react with air, that is why is electrolysis of fused salt

"Fused" in this context actually means dry with no water
The first electrolysis said in a solution I.e with water
And since the metal is so reactive with dil acid it will probably also react with the water, making extracting it difficult
So the best thing is to use the fused salt
