It's hydrogen....Check your text book...air is just present on this earth but not in other planets. But hydrogen is the major composition of jupiter and the rest....{E }

The most abundant substance in the universe is hydrogen. It is the lightest element and makes up about 75% of all normal matter in the universe.
Here's why hydrogen is so abundant:
* Hydrogen atoms are very simple, consisting of a nucleus made of a proton and neutrons, and an electron. This makes them easy to form and break apart.
* Hydrogen atoms can combine with other atoms to form molecules like water, which is the most abundant substance on Earth.
While hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe, it is not the most abundant element in the Earth's atmosphere. The Earth's atmosphere is made up of about 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 0.9% argon.

sorry but nitrogen contains about 70%,oxygen 21%,remaining one contains c02 andsome other impurities.
essential textbook

E. Hydrogen
Hydrogen makes up about 75% of the normal matter in the universe by mass. It is the most common element found in stars, including our Sun.

I think Myschool added the last option because it wasn't there in my Prep50...
With this, i think the answer should be “Air”
Air is the most abundance because the universe they were referring to there is the earth which is occupied by living things and air is the most abundance on earth

See when you are not sure dnt just drop comment and please admin dnt just accept people's opinion and edit answers. These things seems implicating everyday and it is repugnant.. I took my textbook just now and scrutinize it, Oxygen is the most abundan element on earth. It occurs in nature in both the free and combined states.
