Alkaline pyrogallol and quicklime are both drying agents; they dry off the other constituents of air leaving Nitrogen And Rare Gases.

Alkaline pyrogallol absorbs water and oxygen. So it is used in photosynthesis to test for the importance of water as one of the materials necessary for photosynthesis to take place.

I disagree for quicklime, yes, quicklime dries, but it doesn't absorb CO2. It's a metallic hydroxide that absorbs it. E.g CaOH, so correct ur question!
