Aromatic hydrocarbon produces smoky flame while aliphatic do not... And this is observed by applying heat.
It's very correct.

the correct option is A,which I picked but I was marked wrong.

Both answers are correct. But the best is option A not C the thermal decomposition

The correct answer is A. action of bromine.

Aromatic hydrocarbons react slowly or not at all with bromine, whereas aliphatic hydrocarbons react rapidly, decolorizing the bromine solution. This is because aromatic hydrocarbons have a stable, planar ring structure that makes them less reactive towards electrophilic addition reactions, such as bromination. Aliphatic hydrocarbons, on the other hand, are more reactive due to their open-chain structure.

Here's a brief explanation of the other options:

B. Polymerization reactions can occur with both aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, so this is not a distinguishing characteristic.

C. Heat can cause various reactions in both aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, such as cracking or reforming, but it's not a definitive way to distinguish between them.

D. Oxidation reactions can also occur with both types of hydrocarbons, although the products and reaction conditions may differ. However, this is not a reliable method to distinguish between aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons.

c is absolutely dope .
Aromatic hydrocarbons burn with a soothy flame 🔥 while aliphatic hydrocarbon burns with no soothy flame.

Both A and C is correct but which is best used to distinguish them

@My school you're wrong the answer is B
generally we have two classes of organic compound which is aliphatic and aromatic compound , the aliphatic compound is further divided into cyclic and acyclic compound, the acyclic compound could be Triple bond, double bond or even single bonds while the aromatic compounds are benzene like compounds some are derivatives of benzene while others are non derivative of benzene
Now I know the reason you guys chosed C which is heat is that aromatic compounds are unsaturated and they burn with smooky and sooty flame but you should know that aliphatic compounds like akynes and alkanes can also exhibit this feature because they're unsaturated like the aromatic compounds
It is only Aliphatic compounds like Alkyne and alkene that can polymerize to form a polymer
for example ethene polymerizes to form Polythene, but aromatic compounds can not because they form ring so the correct answer is B
please review this my school 🙏🙏🙏

The selected answer is wrong:

Aliphatic hydrocarbons do not decolourize bromine water while aromatic hydrocarbons decolourize bromine water
