A positively charged ion has more protons than electrons.
A negatively charged ion has more electrons than protons.

darkypearl.....it cnt be D cos dis is a case of electron loss ...it is represented wit positive sign

This is incorrect
An element with 8 proton is should have a negative sign (Oxygen ion) and oxygen ion has 10 electrons

the ans is D becos having 8 proton and 9 neutron with 7 electron which is element 17 i.e chlorine which need one electron to make it 8 in the outermost shell containing (7) so for it to gain that 1 electron .it carries negative sign -1 .

8 protons means oxygen no wam, 7 electrons indicates more 1 more positive than negatives, so the answer is oxygen with a single
positive charge shikena baby gurl

But oxygen is always 2-
Or is it because it is giving out one of its electrons that is why it is +
