An element with 8 proton is should have a negative sign (Oxygen ion) and oxygen ion has 10 electrons

the ans is D becos having 8 proton and 9 neutron with 7 electron which is element 17 i.e chlorine which need one electron to make it 8 in the outermost shell containing (7) so for it to gain that 1 electron .it carries negative sign -1 .

8 protons means oxygen no wam, 7 electrons indicates more 1 more positive than negatives, so the answer is oxygen with a single
