The correct answer is B. ARGON IS USED IN GAS -FILLED ELECTRIC LAMPS BECAUSE IT HELPS TO PREVENT THE OXIDATION OF THE LAMP FILAMENTS.... (ABABIO CHEMISTRY, CHAPTER 16,PG 289, SUBTOPIC :USES OF THE NOBLE GAS)

I strongly believe the answer should be D, because come to think of it, argon doesn't really actively prevent the oxidation of the filament by some chemical means. It simply just replaces oxygen, thereby creating an inert atmosphere.
But sha the question itself is not really straightforward, Option B is also correct in a kinda way.
How I wish jamb provided answers to every past question themself

answer is B

Myschool.com.ng keeps pissing me off.

If jambs'marking scheme was this erroneous, there would be no need writing jamb then

The selected answer is wrong:

Argon is noble gases-filled with electric lamp and its filled to prevent the oxidation of the FILAMENT

From my own perspecctive. Regardinq d combination of my knowledge in physics nd chemistry. I THINK option C is d right option. Bcause accordinq to d cathode ray experiment, inert gases are used bcause they glow brightly when a beam of electron passes tru dem at low pressure nd high emf. Datz y Neon is widely used and so Argon sometimes.
