The eggs of birds contains relatively larger quantities of yolk than those of amphibians and reptiles because
The yolk is the primary source of food (nutrients, fats, and proteins) for the developing embryo. Birds typically undergo a longer and more complex period of embryonic development (gestation within the egg) compared to amphibians and most reptiles. Many birds are precocial, meaning they must develop significantly (growing feathers, opening eyes, and gaining the ability to forage) before hatching. This requires a larger "fuel tank" of yolk to sustain them until they are ready to survive outside the shell.
