The absence of special food and water-conducting systems restricts the body size in
The restriction of body size in these organisms is due to the absence of vascular tissues (xylem and phloem). Without these specialized systems, there is no efficient way to transport water and nutrients from the soil to elevated parts of the plant. Also, vascular tissues provide structural support (lignin); without them, the plants cannot support a large or tall body and must remain close to the ground or submerged in water.
